On the International Day of Care and Support, we at the Ibero-American General Secretariat (SEGIB), with the support of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), are focusing on the importance of moving toward organizations that care: organizations able to recognize people’s care needs and build them into their policies and practices.
All of us provide care or need care at some point in our lives. That is why building care into organizations’ policies and practices is essential to help reconcile personal, family and work life and to advance toward greater gender equality.
Organizations can make a concrete contribution through measures that free up time for care, provide support and create environments that promote co-responsibility, such as flexible working hours, remote work, leave, financial support, care services, or support when returning to work after leave.
Moving toward organizations that care means putting people’s well-being at the center, promoting co-responsibility and gender equality and, at the same time, strengthening organizations themselves.
